Firstly, I have no idea whats going on with my screen settings so I’ll be looking at that asap. Fingers crossed everything lines up again soon.
Now, lets talk about investment pieces in your wardrobe. Since clothing doesn’t increase in value {unless its vintage fancy brand name pieces}, investing in clothing is all about getting your monies worth.
I have a checklist that I run through in my head before every purchase. These days it’s all about smarter shopping. I talk about my smarter shopping tips here.
For my investment piece post I thought I would mix it up a little bit and show of this fabulous Aussie designed ‘La Catrina Midi Skirt’ from Seraphim. This skirt is straight off the runway from last weeks Curvy Couture Roadshow in Melbourne.
This skirt to me is an investment piece. It’s $139 and well worth the money. You will get so much wear from a printed midi skirt, mainly because it has so many amazing colours through the print you can accessorise and wear it million times. {okay thats an exaggeration but you can wear it A LOT}
I ADORE the Alexander Henry Frida La Catrina print. I’m wearing the eggplant colour, it also comes in marine too which has more pinks and blues through the print.
In the image above I decided to wear a textured red top to highlight the red in the skirt and tan natural shoes.
Hat – H&M
Shoes – Forever New
For this look I matched the skirt with a black shoes and top and added a clutch bag for a pop of colour.
Top – New Look Fashion
Clutch – Sportsgirl
Shoes – Basque
Earrings – Collete
The skirt itself is made from 100% cotton. Now for those of you who are lazy like me, alarm bells ring because normally cotton means wrinkles, which means ironing. Sigh. I’m not an ironer at all.
The good news is that the print is so detailed that any wrinkles that are there can’t be seen. Win Win for the non ironers.
Size wise Seraphim goes from a 16 right up to a 26. I’m wearing a size 18 which was the perfect fit for me.
Another highlight of this skirt is that it SUPER flattering for the belly area, so if that’s an area you are a little self conscious about then this style of skirt would be perfect for you.
Now the important questions I can hear you asking. Where to buy.

Thanks Jacqueline, it comes in a lovely Marine colour too which is equally as gorgeous.
Just letting you know the link wasn’t working for me. But thanks for bringing it to my attention, i’m off to buy it!
Thanks for letting me know Cindy. Have just fixed it x
That skirt is gorgeous, it looks totally amazing on you. I love it and want it! And ironing shmining… who’s got time for that!?! I’d love to see the black top look with some green beads.
Yay to another non ironer! A green necklace would look lovely.
I plan to wear it with lots of chunky bangles too for the next post.
