I’ve just returned from a couple of weeks in Bali. Because I have lived and worked in luxury hotels for many years now I travelled to Bali to volunteer at an orphanage. {I talk about it a little bit more in last weeks ‘Blue’ post}
For this weeks Aussie Curves Multicultural theme I thought I would share some photos from my last day in Bali where I visited the Tanah Lot Temple. It was very hot and rainy so I’d purchased a hat to keep the rain off my face. I’d purchased the dress at the temple from one of the various market stalls.
Just like last weeks post this is just me as me. Wild natural hair, no make up and no styling.
When I travel I like to step off the general tourist and immerse myself into the regions culture. In saying that, Tanah Lot is close to the main tourist areas and a popular spot to visit. The temple is located on a rock just offshore. It is said to be the work of revered 15th century Hindu priest Nirartha and forms an important element of Balinese spiritualism and mythology. So if you are heading to Bali, check it out.
At low tide you can walk to to the base of the temple and for a small donation you can be blessed in the cave. I decided not to take any photos out of respect for where we were but did get a photo with one of the priests and Jess one of my fellow volunteers from the orphanage.
Oh and the cave under the temple is said to be inhabited with dangerous snakes. So some of the locals have a giant {friendly} python that you can hold and have your photo taken for $4 AUD. There was a big bunch of guys to freaked out to hold it so I thought I would show them how it’s done.

Wow, what an amazing experience! Bali is such a beautiful place, if you get away from the main touristy places. You look gorgeous in that colour blue, too 🙂
