Hot off the runway from Melbourne Fashion Week Plus the Hope&Harvest team wasted no time in jumping straight into a shoot for their new collection ‘SECRET GARDEN‘.
This is where magic happens guys and things just work out because it was meant to be.
But firstly, try to remain calm, because the new SS16 range has dropped and theres more on the way. Bringing a beautiful elegance to Summer. The allure of a secret garden. The collection is all about classic lines with beautiful prints, bespoke tapestries, florals, bugs, bees and beetles.

The Location – a converted cotton mill warehouse with amazing amounts of natural light.
Everyone pitched in to help set up. Whats different about this shoot is that Harvest the designer actually brought all her own gear and was the photographer for the day. Talk about skills! Seriously!
On the day of the shoot, we had a small team consisting of:
Harvest Powell, the designer & photographer, the models, myself, Suzanne Stevens, Trelawney Skye, owner of Iridis Cosmetics Peta-Gai McLaughlin our HMUA (Hair and makeup artist), Hayley Carns who turned my frizzy hair into something much more glamorous, Leigh McCann who made sure we were all looked after, as well as Karin Bruce who hosted us at her boutique studio in Footscray.
PG & Hayley Carns worked their magic in enhancing our beauty for the shoot. This shoot was just after many days of being on site at Melbourne Fashion Week Plus so we were all a little weary.
Generally as each of us are getting made up the other models are shooting. Throughout the day we rotated between being in front of the camera, getting dressed or having PG retouch our hair.
Theres always time for a selfie whilst on set.
When looking at fashion images, one seldom thinks about all the events beforehand that made a particular image possible. As you can see from the photos there’s always a herd of people working together behind the scenes.
Shoots can be pretty stressful. Time is money and when there’s lots of people/creatives involved people can butt heads. Happy to report that this was not the case at all for this shoot. Just a bunch of industry friends that managed to get together to do a fashion photoshoot with lots of laughs along the way.

It was an honour working with my long term buddy Harvest. We met at her 2010 spring summer photoshoot six years ago and have been friends ever since. (oh and I was a brunette for 3 months back then)
