Because I’ve been travelling around the USA attending fabulous fashion events (geez that sounds so glam) I’m a little late for this post so the Juliet Printed Tutu skirt is available right now and on sale for 4th of July (yay)

You guys know that I never talk about something that I don’t love. So here’s the details.

It’s soft, flowy and feminine with an edge of vintage romance. I totally think of Romeo&Juliet with the rose print so it’s no wonder the designer named it the Juliet. (also do you know that Society+ design their garments at the Florida HQ and boss babe Jessica Kane who’s a size 22 is their fit model. Cool huh. Let’s talk sizing.

I wear a medium at City Chic, a size 18 at most other Aussie stores, a size 16 at 17Sundays and a 2XL at Torrid.
In these particular photos with the peach backdrop I’m wearing a size 14-16 which is a snug fit. The waist band is elasticated with a thick band so even though it was tight getting over my hips it fits my waist comfortably. In the photo at the very top where I’m wearing the white lace top – I’m wearing the next size up

It’s like this print was made for me. I mean I live in the tropics and love to wear colour. Totally me. Kate Aikins, designer of Misty Belvidere was wearing this print when I met her at the Curvy Couture Roadshow. I was captivated by the signature tropiflora print, its seriously mesmerising to look at. You’ll probably have noticed by now that I’m all about wearing colour. The colours we choose to surround ourselves affect us more than we think. As a society, we associate colors with so many different things – they have meanings beyond simple visual stimulation. Yeah wearing black can be ‘slimming’ but WHO CARES. I don’t live my life with the aim to ‘look slimmer’. When I wear colour, I’m celebrating life. Which is every day. Interior designers use colour to create different moods in different rooms – to inspire, energize, or calm. I apply this concept to my outfits. So if you are felling a little meh, channel some of the power of colour into your outfits and see what happens. Now back to my tropical outfit. This gorgeous and flattering high waisted skirt is knee-length, made of cotton sateen and has the signature Misty Belvidere metal zip at the back. Size wise I’m wearing a size 1. Theres a fair amount of stretch in the skirt and an especially generous amount of space for those of you who have larger hips and thighs. The print on the skirt is such a statement that I decided to keep it simple with the top. The black ‘Avante Crop’ is made of a soft, buttery feeling stretch ponte. It has a scoop neck and fitted sleeves. Now guys this is a crop crop. If I had of put my arms up you’d see a slither of tummy and I’m totally okay with that. For those of you with a big bust (I’m a 18G) I’d size up just so you have a little more room. My shoes and bag match the subtle flecks of purple in the skirt. Keeping it simple and smart. Aussie Curves ~ Picnic

At the Curvy Couture Roadshow Markets I visited the Marji & Jean stall to check out their handmade garments that are all made from original patterns from the 1950s and 1960s, that have been altered to fit a range of modern figures.

There was such a fabulous range of patterns to choose from, each unique dress is made from new materials in retro inspired fabrics.

I picked up this gem and thought it would go perfectly at a picnic. {which is this weeks Aussie Curves theme}

And whilst I wasn’t attending a picnic when these photos were taken, I had a furry admirer who just wouldn’t leave my side.

To accentuate my waist I added a leather wrap belt. I’m generally a size 16-18 however I’m wearing a size 20 dress to accommodate my large bust. It was still a little tight on my bust but bearable to wear.

Styling wise I like to keep things simple. White heels, round white earrings and a simple white clutch.

Realistically I’d wear flats to a picnic. I just couldn’t resist wearing my sexy Wayne Cooper shoes.

Aussie Curves ~ Wedding Guest

Fun fact for you. I’ve been to hundreds of weddings.

Most of the time I’m behind the scenes organising the wedding but two weeks ago I got to watch my two friends walk down the isle with the stunning Yarra Valley in the background.

Every wedding to me is fabulous and is filled with magical moments. And don’t worry there are plenty of not so magical moments too. Believe me I’ve seen it all. Hissy fits over guests wearing the same thing, duplicate ceremonies separating those who don’t get along, dresses not fitting etc.

One of the perks of a wedding is getting dressed up to celebrate the occasion. For me, celebration is colourful and full of life so you will never catch me wearing black to a wedding. Nor white whilst on the topic. The bride gets to wear white on her wedding day, it’s one day where you don’t. So if you choose to wear white or cream to a wedding, I will judge you.

With Victoria being renowned for having four seasons in one day I oped for a dress that had sleeves in case it got cooler in the night. Also packed a black pashmina.

This stylish design features a surplice neckline, sheer floaty sleeves, fitted waistband with metal plate belt, draped skirt for a flattering fit, smocked panel on reverse for additional comfort and is lined. As I’m quite busty I wore a black singlet top underneath moreso for modesty. Without it I would have shown way too much boobage.

I matched my bag and earrings with the gold belt that came with the dress. I’d planned to wear wedges so I wouldn’t sink into the grass but in the rush of packing I completely forgot. Luckily I had my fav Wayne Cooper heels packed to wear with another outfit. You just can’t go wrong with simple black shoes.

Wittner sell heel tips that help stop your shoes from sinking into the grass. GENIUS! They come in black + clear and retail for $15 a set.

Aussie Curves ~ Shoes

This week it’s all about shoes. I’m the kinda gal who likes to wear my shoes to death and then they go to shoe heaven. And then I buy more.

Getting the most wear out of my shoes is my number one priority. Oh and comfort. They must be comfortable {see my top tips for comfy shoes here}

On a whim back in September I purchased these lovely ‘Sweetheart’ shoes. A perfect match my cute heart dress from Yours Clothing UK. Cuteness all round.

No styling here, just me in a summers dress about to go out for lunch with friends.

I’m wearing a size 16, which was a little tight on the bust. Later that day I ended up undoing the zip, luckily I had worn a black singlet top underneath. The zip goes right down to the hips so you can step in and out of it easily. {will leave that one there for your imagination}

Now you all know how much I love pockets in dresses. It’s very hot in Northern Queensland at this time of year so most of my clothing is lightweight and I don’t carry a bag around much.

Often pockets can add bulk to a dress. These drop pockets are quite flattering especially with the added pleat detail which creates ruching along the dress.

If you are a little self conscious of your tummy area, then this style dress is for you.

So, the shoes. I’ve featured quite a few Fiebiger Shoes lately in my posts, mainly because I did my once a year shoe shop in September and have fallen in love with the styles, comfort and whilst I’m being honest the cost. So affordable.

These Sweetheart sandals have an almond shaped open toe, flexible toe-post {so no in-between the toes blisters appear} and silver heart embellishment on the vamp. The flats boast an adjustable ankle strap and silver metal accents on the heel. Fancy.

Aussie Curves ~ Pastel

You may have noticed by now I’m a huge fan of pastel colours. They are soft, feminine and look fabulous against every skin tone.

I had every intention of showing off an entire purple and pink pastel outfit {click here to see} but I couldn’t wait until the Aussie Curves pastel week.

So instead of showing you another full pastel outfit, here’s my take on pastel feature my favourite accessories.

I’ve been wearing this contrast midi panel dress at least once a week since I purchased it in September. It’s still available online and a complete bargain at $40!

The silhouette enhancing contrast panels are flattering on curves. I just adore the city print on the panels.

Aussie Curves ~ Favourite Colour

I’ve always been a purple girl. Perhaps I grew to like wearing a purple school uniform for 6 years but either way the colour has stuck with me.

This purple is more of a soft lilac purple which goes adorably with my pastel pink accessories including my favourite pointed stiletto pumps.

I purchased this dress from Boohoo.com in October for $32. Skater dresses are always a great fit on my body shape and I love square necklines.

The material is quite thick so whilst I haven’t been able to wear it too much in the warmth of Queensland Spring, I’m heading to the UK for Christmas so I will wear it with stockings for a Winter look.

Now because I’m a little top heavy {okay a lot top heavy} with not much of a waist I accessorised with a pink belt and long neckline to break up the bulk of the dress.

The belt gave me some shape to my bust and waist.

I looked everywhere {maybe three stores} for a pink belt. In the end I purchased a belt from Kmart for $7 and a pink nail polish for $3 and created my own pink belt. Not the right shade of pink but oh well….you can’t win them all.

It’s a simple matchy matchy kind of look that I love to recreate again and again. I felt feminine, elegant and beautiful.

Aussie Curves ~ Secondhand

Being a plus size gal we often overlook opshopping. Every now and again you push the moo moos aside and come across a fabulous item.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of shopping {yeah I know crazy right?} every now and again I will have a glance at the clothing in op shops.

I came across this cute dress whilst looking for a halloween costume.

This dress cost a whopping $7.50 and is an Aussie Brand called ‘DOLINA’ By Ronen Young. It was a tight squeeze on the bust but something about the soft pleats had me hooked.

I accessorised with a featured necklace, simple black wedges and a clutch bag.

Aussie Curves ~ Sparkle

It feels like yesterday I did my previous Aussie Curves ‘Sparkle’ post. {click here to view}

I love a bit of bling every now and again but living in the tropics just really isn’t the kinda place you wear sparkly items. I’m a huge believer in leaving a little bit of sparkle wherever you go. Whether it be a passing positive compliment to a stranger, sprinkle that positive sparkle everywhere.

In my previous Aussie Curves sparkle post I wore a hint of bling so this time I decided to go all out. Complete outfit sparkle. And a strapless bra, wowsers I’m on a role.

I feel like a million bucks wearing this Camille Sequin Lace Shift dress by designer MONTIQUE. Designed with chic 3/4 sleeves and bateau-style neckline this dress was made to impress. The swirling sequinned lace fabric has a fair amount of stretch and I don’t even mind it hugs my tummy area a little firmer than I like.

I’m wearing a size 16 which is a little tight on me as I normally wear a size 18 but after checking out the designers website I now have an extensive wish list. You’ll be glad to know that their range starts at a size 8 and goes up to a size 20. There’s a generous amount of stretch with this dress, I was fairly impressed that it fit my bust and moulded to my curves to create a sparkly body con.

Now ladies you know I love a good bargain and even though this is an expensive $300 designer dress, I purchased it from Trade Secret for $80. {whohoo}

I kept it fairly simple with the accessories, simple earrings, black heels and a clutch bag
