I’ve always wondered about eyelash extensions but always told myself that I didn’t need them because I already had fairly long and dark lashes. {yes I know one of the lucky ones}
You could go as far as to say I was a massive ‘lash extension sceptic‘.
I do love to wear strip lashes for special occasions and with my trip to NYC Full Figure Fashion Week approaching the idea of permanently having fabulous lashes 24/7 and not waking up with panda eyes was very appealing. {Especially because I’m quite lazy when it comes to makeup ~ all applications have to fit into my five minute time frame.}
BUT….Strip lashes can be fiddly to apply, I always manage to get glue everywhere and the process to take them off after a couple of drinks always means that I’m not so gentle at removing them = bye bye to a small number of lashes.
I arrived at Miss Eyelash in Mt Eliza {now also in Elwood} and was greeted to a stylish cozy environment with candles and soft music playing in the background. I immediately felt relaxed and knew I would be in good hands.
Emma Vosti, Miss Eyelash herself, introduced herself and sat down with me to discuss the application and after care details.
Me being a nervous nelly had done plenty of research before arriving however I still had a couple of questions which Emma answered with ease. Phew, so it wasn’t going to hurt, and I wasn’t going to lose half of my lashes. Emma assured me that the biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes.
As a rule I don’t wear a huge amount of make up so for my first application we decided to go with a natural look for my extensions.
Once I was tucked warmly under a lovely electric blanket, Emma started to work her eyelash magic. I must admit at first it felt quite strange to have my eyelids taped. We chatted and giggled for a little while, I was so worried about falling asleep and snoring but I felt so at ease I drifted off to a peaceful micro nap.
One by one my lashes were added. Each lash was counted to make sure there were the same amount of lashes on each eye. Talk about dedication!
Time ticked by and the next thing I knew my lashes were complete.
The whole process including my personal consultation took just over one and a half hours.
Once the tape was gently removed, Emma fanned by eyes as I opened them and I was able to see my luscious lashes.
So the results
I can’t stress enough how pain free and relaxing this process was.
For those of you who aren’t in Melbourne and can’t make it to see a Miss Eyelash consultant, if you experience any burning or discomfort during the procedure, causing your eyes to tear or making you cry, this is a huge red flag and you should certainly speak up. You may need to have your consultant change the glue.
Has someone else buggered up your lashes? Miss Eyelash can rescue and repair too. Not keen on getting extensions? Miss Eyelash can tint and curl your lashes.
Need your eyebrows or makeup done? Miss Eyelash has teamed up with Golden Ratio Brows who are based at both of the locations.
The cost is worth the results, seriously.

Post Care Hot Tips
~ Use oil free make up remover
~ Do not rub eyes or tug at lashes because this can cause lash loss
~ Gently comb eyelashes with the brush provided at the start of the day to ensure they are lining up nicely
So how long did they last?
My lashes lasted just over five weeks and if I didn’t live in northern QLD I would be back there in a heartbeat.
I can honestly say I am no longer a sceptic. They looked great, lasted a long time and from start to finish it was a pleasant experience. I didn’t loose my lashes, they are as full and long as they were prior to getting the extensions applied.
