I’m a Queenslander {sorry Melbourne family and friends I’m not coming back}, which means the temperature is either warm or really hot. This also means that I own lots of swimsuits and constantly have my eyes peeled for bathers.
In June I ordered the Anne Cole Plus Size Black Mesh Bandeau Swimsuit from an American based SwimsuitsForAll who stock hundreds of styles for us curvy gals. Delivery can be quite slow so order in advance.
At first I was a little sceptical as to if it would provide enough support for my G cup bust and size 16-18 body. The sales states recommend the maximum bust size to be DD, so being a G cup I decided to risk the chance of it not fitting. Luckily for me, I was able to fit into the bust comfortably. {Although I also risked buying another suit which wasn’t close to fitting my bust}
The suit comes with a removable halter strap. Initially I didn’t wear the straps but after being in the water things get a little heavier so it’s more comfortable to wear the halter. Speaking of bust support, the bandeau style has soft vertical boning for additional support.
The two tone colour blocking and mesh panels breaks up the torso and visually elongates the waist. By elongate I mean it makes you look slimmer. Win win.
Now many of you comment about how I’m not ‘plus sized’. Here’s a photo of a friend and I, she’s a size 10 and I’m a size 16-18.
And frankly, whether I’m plus sized or not its none of anyones business. I post unedited photos of myself out and about having fun wearing various plus size brands. It’s time to stop judging, comparing and questioning peoples shapes. Size discrimination is not cool. Not matter whether someone is a fitness fanatic or if someone is rounder.
Its much more productive to embrace each other for who we are. Lets encourage people to swim with their children without wearing a baggy T-shirt, to go to the beach and to stop hiding under a veil of clothing. Regardless of your size, your have the right to have fun and wear swimwear.
This body climbs to pose with mermaids.
This body kayaks.
Our bodies are capable of so much. Don’t let your own personal barriers stop you from having fun.
You deserve to enjoy the water so put on that swimsuit and get out there.
Here’s a little clip that I made after a weekend of swimming and fun activities. {A whole three minutes of activities}
